Sheikha Fatima Fund for Women Refugees
The Sheikha Fatima Fund for Women Refugees was established in collaboration with the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) Authority and the UN High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR).
In 2018, Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, The Mother of the Nation, extended financial assistance towards the development programs of the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) Authority. This act was undertaken as part of H.H. initiatives to mitigate human suffering in regions affected by conflict and natural disasters. Additionally, the objective was to address the adverse consequences of poverty, hunger, and sickness that pose a threat to individuals across the globe.
In 2018, Her Highness also extended financial assistance to enhance the Fund for Refugee Women initiatives. Additionally, she supported the project to aid South Sudanese refugees in Uganda, resulting in approximately 46,000 beneficiaries, with 60% of them being women. Implementing these projects facilitated women’s capital acquisition for productive purposes, such as raising animals, including cows and goats.
In 2021, she provided the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) Authority with directives to offer “COVID-19” vaccinations to tens of thousands of displaced individuals and refugees living in Jordan and Iraq.
In 2022, H.H. launched the Bridge of Hope initiative to train midwives in Mauritania to reduce the rate of maternal and neonatal deaths in communities facing health challenges.
In 2023, H.H. supported the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) Authority’s “Bridges of Goodness” relief initiative to assist individuals affected by earthquake damage in Syria and Turkey.
